About Us

The goals of the organization are:
1. Tours: To provide students planned and guided trips to universities and colleges in the tri-state area concentrating on Connecticut state schools. The visits will be facilitated by the school’s admissions department. Simply put, this is the hook to initiate and garner the excitement in the students.
2. Accountability and Education: To encourage students to take ownership of the visits by having them prepare questions on academic departments, finances and sports programs. Students will begin the process by attending an after school meeting. This meeting will stir up interest in students and will begin to prepare them for the trip to the university. Along with teachers, they will prepare questions, comments and concerns about attending a higher education institution.
Note: Parents will be invited and strongly recommended to attend the initial meeting so they can learn about the program, lend support and help keep the students motivated.
3. Encouragement and Concern: A critical component will be following up with all students who take the tour at six predetermined milestones via phone, email or mail. The goal is to answer any questions they may have, check in to see how they are doing and more importantly, let them know we care.
4. Handoff & Application: We will develop a relationship with high school guidance departments as well as other organizations and/or volunteers who can help students navigate the process of college applications and Federal Aid forms. These services already exist so we only need to partner with organizations already providing these services. Also, many high schools and colleges will help students in this area.
